Today Chocolate became my friend!!!!!
So, today when I was at a friend's house I saw my old lover - the BIG HUGE BOWL of Easter Candies!!!!! We said hey to each other, kind of checked each other out (I think he was impressed with how much weight I've lost - I was impressed with how shiny he was!!!) and then I left the room for a while to do other things. But he kept calling out to me - enticing me with mouth watering feelings of comfort & bliss. Then I did something crazy - I took a picture of him and guess what - I DIDN'T EAT ONE STINKIN' PIECE OF THAT DAMN CHOCOLATE!!!!! I'm not sure what it was about photographing it, but knowing that I'd have to count any that I ate kept me from popping one, then two, then fifty into my mouth!
I was listening to NPR a few weeks ago about losing weight, and one of the guests of the show suggested that if you take a picture of what you're planning on eating BEFORE YOU EAT IT a lot of times you'll stop yourself from making bad food choices. That is what I thought about when I grabbed my phone and snapped the picture - and I was SO AMAZED at how well it worked! After I took the picture it just stopped being a tease for me. In fact, I believe that Chocolate became my friend today! We've ALWAYS been lovers, but today - friends. Nice.
I'd like to say that eating healthy is the easiest thing in the world, and a lot of the time it is, but sometimes it just sucks. I would love to be able to down a bunch of chocolate without having to think about the consequences! Scott, my boyfriend, is skinny. I've mentioned this before. He's 5'6" and 145 lbs. He can eat crap ALL DAY LONG and never gain a pound!!! I, on the other had, have to really watch what I eat! I do have chocolate just about every day, but when I stared in to the deep pools of chocolate's eyes earlier today I started to feel weak - mesmerized, even!!! This bowl made me very nervous with the amount of points it held. Lots of them. I just knew if I ate one I would totally lose it and keep eating them! I brought one of my chocolate chip cookies with me today to eat and I decided I'd much rather have that than some kisses. If it had been DARK chocolate kisses it might have been an entirely different matter all together! Incidentally, I didn't even eat my chocolate chip cookie today! I was satisfied enough with my foods that I brought with me for lunch / snack that I didn't eat my chocolate until after dinner tonight and I decided to have a small ice cream bar instead!
I still went over on my daily points by quite a bit, but I still have 18 weekly points left. As I said before, I don't track activity points (AP), but if I had to I do have 22 AP banked so I'm feeling pretty good! Tomorrow is my last day until my weigh in on Saturday. I did do a sneak-peek weigh in this morning and I was actually talking to the scale as I was standing on it - telling it I wanted to be under 156.6 - which I was, but not by much!
Everyone says that the last 25 lbs are the hardest, but I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing and I WILL get to my goal!!!!! I'm excited to wear a BIKINI this summer!
